The Challenge: Moving Beyond Ordinary Shingles
This Winnetka homeowner wanted to move away from standard architectural shingles and invest in a roofing system that offered greater character, longevity, and architectural presence. While functional, the existing roof did little to elevate the home’s curb appeal or align with the scale and style of the property.
As part of a larger renovation, the new roof needed to integrate seamlessly with ongoing construction while delivering long-term performance. As a Winnetka roofing company specializing in luxury roofing systems, Wolf Development was tasked with recommending a solution that balanced aesthetics, durability, and coordination with multiple trades.

This project required close coordination with the general contractor to ensure the roofing system integrated smoothly with the home’s full renovation. Our team carefully sequenced installation phases to keep the home protected throughout construction.
We installed DaVinci Multi-Width synthetic slate with an 8-inch exposure, selected for its authentic texture and proportion. Beneath the slate, a high-performance underlayment system was installed to provide long-term protection against moisture and temperature fluctuations.
To complete the system, we fabricated and installed new copper gutters and custom copper roof sections at the rear of the home. Snow guards were added along the roofline to protect the property, walkways, and landscaping from sliding snow during winter months.
